SAILING DAVID
Welcome to my personal page about my Mercy Ships journey
THIS IS MY STORY
Hello, I’m David and this is the tiny part of the web I call my own.
1 Peter 4:10 “Every believer has received grace gifts, so use them to serve one another as faithful stewards, of the many-colored tapestry of God’s grace.” How can I use myself to make a difference and serve humanity? Was a question that always troubled my mind. Growing up in a family of eight (8) life presented itself in so many ways and I got the perfect answer to that question the day I saw an old woman in our community sacrificed the little she had to feed people who had more than her. It is evident that you don’t have to have much in order to make a difference in the lives of others and that one fact gave me the passion to serve and help in anyway I can.
A dedicated service to my local church gave me the opportunity to know about Mercy Ships and what they do. I applied and worked as a mercy ministries day crew in August 2018 and that presented me with the opportunity to work with orphanages, babies homes, deaf schools, blind schools and destitute centers; teaching them bible stores, making crafts from the bible story, playing games and giving them the feeling of belonging. It was awesome how I could easily relate to the feelings of those kids looking back at my personal story.
Working as a day crew I believed in Mercy Ships vision, mission and core values and developed more passion to continue serving with them as a long-term crew. I joined Mercy Ships as a crew in January 2020 and served as a housekeeper from February 2020 to October 20 then God opened another door with a two (2) years commitment as the deck administrator. As the deck administrator of the Africa Mercy, I am responsible for managing the fine details of the deck department, so that the hospital ship can continue her lifesaving work.
Are you considering contributing with your fund, prayer, or moral support to the work I do with Mercy Ships? Do you want to partner with me in this journey of bringing hope and healing to the forgotten poor? This is an opportunity to be a part of this journey from your home. I am happy to take you into my personal story and my journey with Mercy Ships by sending you regular emails.

Your prayer is essential. Without the blessing of God we cannot do anything. Our work onboard is beautiful, enriching and rewarding, but is also crucial, difficult and responsible work in a challenging environment far from home.
By giving
Our ships are powered by volunteer crewmembers like me, who fund their own travel, room, and board. I wouldn’t be able to volunteer without the support of you.
